15 Egyptian Innovators Compete in DTU Skylab OpenInnovation Challenge to Tackle Plastic Waste
Fifteen Egyptian innovators are participating in the OpenInnovation Challenge hosted by DTU Skylab in Copenhagen, Denmark. The initiative is part of the DEDI Innovation Exchange 2026, bringing together Egyptian entrepreneurs alongside Danish and international peers to engineer scalable, tech-driven solutions that convert plastic waste into high-value resources and advance circular economy models.
Institutional Backing and Co-Design
The program represents a cross-border public-private collaboration designed to accelerate green innovation:
Egyptian Partners: The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), operating through its Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) and Creativa Innovation Hubs.
International Organizers: The United Nations Development Programme in Egypt (UNDP Egypt) in joint partnership with the Danish-Egyptian Dialogue Initiative (DEDI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
Challenge Scope: Co-designed to explore urban waste streams, creating viable commercial frameworks where post-consumer plastics are re-channeled into production lifecycles.
