Emirates NBD Egypt Releases Third Carbon Footprint Report for 2025
Emirates NBD Egypt has issued its third comprehensive carbon footprint report, covering the bank’s operational activities in 2025. The report measures emissions generated by daily operations and supports the development of realistic targets to reduce environmental impact in line with Egypt Vision 2030 and global environmental, social and governance standards.
Measuring Emissions to Support a Low-Carbon Economy
The report reflects the bank’s focus on managing its operational carbon footprint by analyzing emissions associated with energy consumption, transportation and logistics. The findings are intended to translate emissions data into practical steps supporting the transition toward a low-carbon economy.
The report also reflects Emirates NBD Egypt’s approach to integrating sustainability standards into its operations through continuous monitoring of environmental performance and stronger measurement and disclosure mechanisms aligned with relevant international standards.
It further serves as a tool for developing the bank’s future plans, improving resource efficiency and strengthening more sustainable operational practices, consistent with its vision of achieving a long-term positive environmental impact.
Amr El-Shafie: Measurement Supports Strategic Decisions
Amr El-Shafie, Managing Director and CEO of Emirates NBD Egypt, said the issuance of the bank’s third carbon footprint report marks a milestone in its efforts to strengthen corporate sustainability while balancing business growth with efforts to limit its environmental impact.
He added that accurately measuring the bank’s operational footprint enables it to make strategic decisions that support smart, long-term investments, enhance the value of its assets and reinforce its role as a responsible financial partner supporting Egypt’s transition toward a low-carbon economy.

Amgad Douma, Head of Strategy and Sustainability at the bank, said the report provides a comprehensive, data-driven view of emissions sources, helping the bank identify priorities for reducing them effectively.
He added that the bank is not simply monitoring emissions figures, but translating the data into practical solutions integrated into its daily operations. The approach aims to promote a culture of sustainability and encourage environmental innovation among employees, whom the bank considers central to its efforts to create a lasting positive impact on society and the environment.
The report reflects the bank’s proactive approach to environmental protection, relying on detailed analysis to develop emissions-reduction plans that create added value for stakeholders and directly support national efforts toward the green transition.
Emirates NBD Egypt also continues to issue its annual Sustainability Report, which reviews its environmental, social and governance achievements. The bank also publishes an annual Financed Emissions Report to measure the environmental impact of its credit and investment portfolio, reinforcing its focus on sustainable and responsible finance in the Egyptian market.
