NTI and Huawei Expand Egypt’s ICT Talent Bank After Training More Than 2,000 Instructors
Egypt’s National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) and Huawei Technologies Egypt have renewed their strategic partnership to expand a national pool of internationally certified technology instructors, with a growing focus on artificial intelligence, cloud computing, networking and cybersecurity.
The renewed agreement builds on the ICT Talent Bank, an NTI-led initiative designed around a multiplier model: instead of focusing solely on training students, the program develops certified instructors who can then transfer advanced technology skills to a much larger pool of young Egyptians.
More than 2,000 instructors have received international training and qualifications through the cooperation so far, according to NTI.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Ahmed Khattab, Director of the National Telecommunication Institute, and William Jiang, President of Government Affairs and Strategic Communications at Huawei Egypt, in the presence of executives from both organizations.
Training the trainers
At the center of the renewed partnership is an expansion of specialized Train-the-Trainer (TTT) programs.
Selected lecturers and instructors will undergo intensive technical training and work toward Huawei international certifications across technologies seeing growing demand in the digital labor market.
The program will prioritize AI, cloud computing, networking and cybersecurity, creating a pipeline of instructors capable of delivering training aligned with international technology standards.
Graduates of the ICT Talent Bank can subsequently be deployed as instructors across Huawei academies at Egyptian universities and educational institutions, allowing a relatively small group of highly trained specialists to reach a much larger number of students.
That structure gives the program a potentially wider impact than conventional skills initiatives that train participants individually.
2,000 instructors create a multiplier effect
Khattab said internationally accredited instructors are central to NTI’s strategy for building a sustainable technology training ecosystem.
Training an instructor, he explained, does more than improve the skills of a single individual. Each certified trainer can transfer advanced knowledge and expertise to successive groups of specialists and young people, multiplying the impact of capacity-building programs.
He said the qualification of more than 2,000 instructors represents an important outcome of the cooperation with Huawei, with NTI now looking to expand the number of specialists capable of teaching emerging technologies.
The institute also aims to equip trainers with updated technical knowledge and modern teaching methodologies so they can deliver programs that meet international standards.
From student training to a wider skills infrastructure
Huawei said the renewed partnership reflects a broader approach to digital talent development that extends beyond direct student training.
“The cooperation focuses on building an integrated ecosystem for digital talent development that is not limited to training students and young people, but extends to preparing certified lecturers and trainers capable of sustainably transferring modern expertise and technologies through Huawei academies in Egyptian universities and educational institutions,” Jiang said.
The model addresses one of the fundamental challenges facing large-scale technology skills programs: the availability of qualified people to deliver the training itself.
As technologies such as generative AI, cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity evolve rapidly, universities and training institutions need instructors whose skills are updated alongside the technologies they teach.
By developing that layer of certified trainers, the ICT Talent Bank is effectively building training capacity that can be reused across multiple programs, institutions and generations of students.
The renewed NTI-Huawei partnership will continue expanding that model as Egypt seeks to increase the supply of technology professionals equipped for opportunities in the domestic, regional and international digital economy.
