Egypt and AFCAC Discuss Enhancing African Aviation Integration at Alamein Air Show 2026
Sameh El-Hefny, Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, held a strategic meeting with Florent Serge Dzota, President of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), to discuss strategies for advancing the civil aviation sector across the African continent. The high-level talks took place on the sidelines of the second edition of the Alamein International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition 2026.
The session was also attended by Amr Negaty, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Reem Orabi, Egypt’s Alternate Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
Advancing African Air Transport Systems
The discussions centered on pivotal initiatives related to the development of Africa's civil aviation infrastructure. Both parties explored avenues to bolster cooperation and coordination between Egypt and AFCAC, aiming to deepen continental integration, elevate international air transport standards, and support the broader evolution of the African aviation sector. The meeting highlighted the importance of unifying regional visions and exchanging technical expertise to address mutual challenges and shape the future of the industry across the continent.
Preparations for Key ICAO Conferences in November
A major focus of the meeting was the strategic preparation for the upcoming ICAO Extraordinary General Assembly and the 7th Air Transport Conference, both scheduled for this November. The officials reviewed future ministerial priorities and objectives expected to be announced post-conference. These initiatives will align with a forthcoming ministerial declaration aimed at building a resilient, sustainable air transport industry capable of navigating rapid global market shifts, in accordance with ICAO’s overarching strategic goals.
Egypt's Commitment to Continental Growth
Minister El-Hefny emphasized that Egypt places immense importance on supporting African cooperation within the civil aviation domain. He reiterated the nation's dedication to fostering integration among African states to ensure the continent's aviation sector remains competitive and adaptable amid rapid global industry transformations.
In response, AFCAC President Florent Serge Dzota expressed deep appreciation for Egypt’s proactive role in supporting the African civil aviation ecosystem. He commended Egypt's extensive expertise, robust infrastructure, and operational capabilities, noting that the country's continued engagement is instrumental in driving the development and modernization of the aviation sector across Africa.
