Eight Egyptian Apparel Manufacturers Exhibit at Sourcing New York as US Exports Surge 29% to $841M

Eight Egyptian readymade garment (RMG) manufacturers are showcasing their collections at the "Sourcing New York" exhibition in New York City from September 9 to 11, 2026. The trade mission aims to expand commercial buyer networks and accelerate Egyptian apparel export growth across North America.

The delegation's participation is backed by joint collaboration between the Egypt Expo & Convention Authority (EECA), the Ready-Made Garments Export Council (RMGEC), and the GTEX/MENATEX development program. Sherin Hosni, Executive Director of RMGEC, is leading council representation on-site to promote Egyptian manufacturing competitiveness.

The exhibition drew diplomatic and trade support, with visits from Ambassador Tamer Kamal El-Meleigy, Egypt’s Consul General in New York, and Commercial Counselor Seif Khaled from the Egyptian Commercial Bureau in Washington, to review operations and ensure seamless commercial engagement for participating firms.

Capitalizing on Global Supply Chain Shifts

Eng. Fadel Marzouk, Chairman of RMGEC, noted that international fashion brands and retailers are actively diversifying sourcing origins and seeking reliable production hubs closer to major consumer markets. He highlighted that Egypt’s strategic location and expanding industrial infrastructure position domestic producers as strong sourcing partners.

Marzouk stressed that direct participation in international expos enables exporters to identify shifting demand trends and engage global buyers firsthand. He emphasized that Egyptian factories are increasingly adopting cutting-edge production technologies, circular economy frameworks, and environmental sustainability standards to satisfy global compliance, lead-time, and quality requirements.

Sherin Hosni added that technical assistance and capacity-building programs—such as GTEX/MENATEX—play a critical role in upgrading operational systems, enhancing workforce productivity, and aligning local manufacturing lines with international buyer standards.

US Market Performance

The United States remains the primary destination for Egyptian apparel shipments. According to RMGEC data:

7-Month Exports: Egyptian garment exports to the U.S. climbed to $841 million during the first seven months of 2026.

Year-on-Year Growth: This marks a 29% increase compared to $651 million recorded during the same period in 2025.

Market Share: The U.S. market accounted for 39% of Egypt's total ready-made garment exports during the period.

The high-profile presence in New York allows Egyptian manufacturers to hold direct B2B matchmaking meetings, establish long-term supply contracts, and broaden the international footprint of Egyptian textiles in the U.S. retail sector.
