Egypt Gold Prices Edge Higher in Morning Trade as Softer Dollar Lifts Global Bullion

Gold prices in Egypt recorded modest gains in early trading on Thursday, September 10, 2026, rising slightly compared to Wednesday's closing levels.

On the international stage, bullion edged higher during Thursday’s session, supported by a softer U.S. dollar as investors awaited critical U.S. inflation figures for clearer signals regarding the Federal Reserve's monetary policy path.

Domestic Gold Prices in Egypt

Workmanship costs and retailer margins vary across different markets and governorates. According to the pricing platform "iSagha," average gold rates in Egypt—excluding workmanship fees—stood as follows:

24-Karat Gold: Priced at EGP 7,212 per gram for selling and EGP 7,149 for buying.

21-Karat Gold: The most widely traded purity in the local market reached EGP 6,310 per gram for selling and EGP 6,255 for buying.

18-Karat Gold: Recorded EGP 5,409 per gram for selling and EGP 5,362 for buying.

Gold Pound (8 grams of 21K): Settled at EGP 50,480 for selling and EGP 50,040 for buying.

Global Bullion and Fed Expectations

Spot gold advanced 0.3% to $4,414.28 per ounce by 04:19 GMT, while U.S. gold futures for December delivery dipped 0.1% to $4,457.20 per ounce.

The greenback’s retreat against major currencies provided an additional catalyst, making dollar-denominated bullion more cost-effective for international buyers holding other currencies.

Meanwhile, market pricing via the CME FedWatch tool indicated a 60% probability that the Federal Reserve will raise benchmark interest rates at its upcoming policy meeting. While gold is widely viewed as a traditional hedge against inflation, elevated interest rates tend to weigh on the appeal of the non-yielding precious metal.
