FEI’s African Cooperation Committee Discusses Export Opportunities and New Markets with Egypt’s Ambassadors to Africa
The African Cooperation Committee of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), chaired by Dr. Sherif El-Gabaly, held a meeting with several Egyptian ambassadors to African nations to explore mechanisms for enhancing economic and trade cooperation, opening new markets for Egyptian products, and formulating solutions to the primary challenges facing exporters.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Nazli El-Fayoumi, Egypt's newly appointed Ambassador to the Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville), and Ambassador Engy El-Samnoudy, Egypt's newly appointed Ambassador to the Republic of Burundi, alongside several committee members.
Dr. Sherif El-Gabaly emphasized that strengthening economic relations with African nations is a paramount priority for Egyptian industry, particularly given the vast opportunities these markets present for domestic goods. He stated that the Egyptian industrial sector possesses substantial capabilities to compete regionally; however, maximizing these opportunities requires precise, up-to-date intelligence regarding the specific needs of each market, the types of products in demand, and the investment landscape, as well as a clear understanding of the operational hurdles Egyptian firms face upon entry.
El-Gabaly highlighted the committee's commitment to fostering direct communication with Egyptian ambassadors across the continent, viewing them as a crucial link to understanding market dynamics. He noted that continuous institutional coordination between the FEI, government bodies, and diplomatic missions is essential to support the external expansion and export growth of Egyptian industries.
On her part, Ambassador Nazli El-Fayoumi underscored the necessity of bridging the Egyptian and Congolese business communities. She explained that boosting bilateral trade and investment requires direct, ongoing dialogue to identify high-growth sectors and facilitate the flow of market intelligence to Egyptian enterprises looking to expand into Congo, reaffirming the embassy's readiness to support these economic partnerships.
Similarly, Ambassador Engy El-Samnoudy stressed the importance of revitalizing commercial ties between Egypt and Burundi. She called for intensified coordination between the embassy and the Egyptian industrial sector to pinpoint Burundian market needs, noting that the upcoming period holds promising prospects for bilateral economic cooperation and new ventures for Egyptian firms.
The discussions underscored the strategic importance of forging partnerships and signing memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between the FEI and counterpart industrial organizations across Africa. Such frameworks will establish direct channels for exchanging expertise, facilitate reciprocal visits among investors, and ultimately drive the penetration of Egyptian products into African markets.
The participants concluded by agreeing to sustain ongoing coordination and establish practical mechanisms for sharing trade and investment data, thereby empowering Egyptian companies to expand their footprint and boost exports across the African continent.
