US Dollar Tops 51 EGP Across Several Egyptian Banks Amid Record Remittances
The US Dollar edged higher against the Egyptian Pound (EGP) on Monday, August 31, 2026, crossing the 51-pound threshold in several commercial and Islamic banks operating across Egypt.
The currency movement comes alongside record-high remittance figures. Egyptian expatriate remittances surged 29.6% year-on-year to hit $47.3 billion in the fiscal year 2025/2026 (up from $36.5 billion in FY 2024/2025). Monthly remittances for June 2026 alone climbed 15.6% to reach $4.2 billion, compared to $3.6 billion in June 2025.
