Egypt Participates in China–Africa Digital Capacity Building Cooperation Conference
Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), took part in the 2026 China–Africa Digital Capacity Building Cooperation Conference, held on August 27 and 28 in Hangzhou, China. The conference was organized by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology through China-Africa Digital Technology Cooperation Center (CADTCC), China Academy of Information and Communication Technology (CAICT), and Hangzhou High-Tech Zone (Binjiang).
Held under the theme "Strengthening Cooperation in Digital Capacity Building and Jointly Seizing Opportunities in the Digital Era," the conference brought together senior officials from 18 African countries and four international organizations, alongside representatives from think tanks and the private sector.
The conference agenda featured keynote addresses and the official launch ceremony of CADTCC, along with thematic sessions on digital infrastructure, digital transformation, and digital talent development. The event also included a session dedicated to China-Africa digital cooperation and industry matchmaking.
During the conference, MCIT took part in the first meeting of CADTCC's Partner Committee, where it highlighted possible avenues for cooperation aimed at shifting capacity-building efforts beyond simple technology transfer toward sustainable local digital capabilities, institutional ownership platforms, and joint R&D programs. The Ministry also presented its capacity-building strategy during the session on "Enhancing Digital Capacity for Inclusive Growth and Shared Prosperity."
In parallel, MCIT also participated in the High-level Workshop on African Digital Development and Transformation, organized CADTCC and China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA). The workshop was aimed at promoting matchmaking between Chinese and African governmental, academic and industry institutions.
CADTCC was first announced by the Chinese government at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in September 2024 and was formally established in Hangzhou in November 2025.
