Swvl Secures $1.5M from Sovico Holdings, Bringing Strategic Investment Round to $14.5M
Swvl Holdings, a leading provider of technology-driven mobility solutions for enterprises and governments, has announced the signing of a definitive agreement with Sovico Holdings Limited to acquire ordinary shares in Swvl for $1.5 million. Executed in a private placement priced at $1.46 per share, this transaction brings the total value of the company’s strategic investment round to approximately $14.5 million.
The transaction is expected to close on or about August 28, 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Swvl intends to allocate the net proceeds from the offering toward working capital and general corporate purposes, which notably includes supporting the expansion of its operations in the United States.
Under the terms of the agreement, Sovico Holdings has agreed to a six-month lock-up period, during which it will not sell or transfer the acquired securities. Any subsequent transfers will be subject to phased restrictions, ensuring that no more than 20% of the securities are transferred within any 90-day period, capped at a maximum of 20% of the trading volume on the day of the sale.
This deal complements a strategic investment round previously announced by Swvl on August 25. The fresh capital injection from Sovico Holdings significantly bolsters the company's financial footing, enhancing its capacity to execute its expansion plans in the coming period.
