Minister of Petroleum Commends ANRPC for Record Gasoline Production and Energy Efficiency Milestones

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Eng. Karim Badawi, underscored the critical role of Egyptian refineries in securing local market demands, processing increased crude oil output, and ultimately reducing the national petroleum import bill.

During a recent operational review, the Minister heavily praised the Alexandria National Refining and Petrochemicals Company (ANRPC) for successfully scaling up its production of high-octane gasoline and implementing highly effective energy conservation programs. The Minister directed all sector companies to adopt similar cost-reduction and energy-efficiency initiatives, while emphasizing that strict adherence to quality control and occupational safety standards remains a top priority.

ANRPC Operational Milestones (FY 2025/2026)

Eng. Sayed El-Rawy, Chairman of ANRPC, presented the company's historic operational results, driven by rigorous maintenance schedules and improved unit efficiencies.

The table below outlines the company's key performance metrics and infrastructure upgrades:

Metric / UpgradeAchieved Results & Impact

High-Octane GasolineRecord production of nearly 2 million tons annually

Local Market ShareCovers over 30% of Egypt's domestic production

Energy Efficiency SavingsSurged to $5 million (up from $1 million the previous year)

Storage CapacityExpanded by 10,000 tons to exceed 140,000 tons total

Logistics & InfrastructureCompleted a new 3,000-meter pipeline network for materials

Sustainability and Technical Upgrades

ANRPC's success was heavily supported by technical modernization and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability:

Blending Unit Upgrade: Efficiency was increased by 35%, enabling the successful conversion of 200,000 tons of low-octane intermediate materials into high-quality end products.

Emissions Reduction: Running the main boiler on hydrogen-rich gases saved 19,000 tons of natural gas and slashed carbon emissions by 56,000 tons annually (representing over 35% of the company's total emissions).

Future Green Targets: The company is targeting an additional 10% reduction in carbon emissions by utilizing low-pressure steam, which is projected to save another 4,000 tons of natural gas annually.
