Meta AI Launches Mac App With New Productivity Features
Meta has launched a dedicated Meta AI app for Mac computers as it seeks to turn its artificial intelligence assistant into a more powerful productivity tool and compete with desktop AI applications from Google, OpenAI and Anthropic.
Meta AI Can Analyze Mac Screen Content
The new app allows users to share a window from their Mac screen with Meta AI, enabling the assistant to analyze what is displayed, answer questions, offer suggestions and generate content based on the information it can see.
The application also supports voice dictation across different apps, allowing users to speak to Meta AI and enter text without leaving the application they are currently using.
The launch reflects Meta’s broader effort to evolve Meta AI beyond a conventional chatbot and position it as an assistant focused more heavily on productivity.
Google’s Gemini already allows users to share their screen with the assistant, while ChatGPT and Claude offer more advanced capabilities that allow their assistants to perform specific tasks and control the computer itself.
Meta AI Expands Integration With Other Services
Alongside the Mac app, Meta announced new capabilities aimed at businesses and content creators. Meta AI, available through the web, mobile devices and Mac computers, can now work directly with Instagram and Facebook accounts, Meta’s advertising campaigns and Google Workspace services.
For example, the assistant can analyze post performance, including reach, likes, shares and saves, and then suggest content that could be published in the future.
Meta AI can also use business account data and information available on the web to create presentations, documents and spreadsheets, while handling repetitive tasks such as preparing weekly performance reports.
