US Bitcoin ETFs Suffer Worst Week in Two Months with $390 Million in Net Outflows

United States-listed spot Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) experienced their worst week in two months, recording net outflows of approximately $390 million between August 10 and 14. This sustained five-day drain erased a strong start to the month and marked the largest weekly redemption streak since the record-breaking $4.5 billion exit wave witnessed in June.

In early August, the funds had attracted inflows exceeding $750 million, briefly reviving market discussions regarding a renewed institutional appetite for Bitcoin investments before the sentiment abruptly reversed.

Gradual Weekly Sell-Off

According to tracking data from Farside Investors and SoSoValue, the outflows were not driven by a sudden, single-day flash crash, but rather a steady, gradual withdrawal of capital throughout the trading week.

The table below provides a day-by-day breakdown of the net outflows recorded during the week:

Trading Day (August 2026)Net Outflow Volume

Monday, August 10$144.7 Million

Tuesday, August 11Brief respite (Neutral/Stable)

Wednesday, August 12$61.1 Million

Thursday, August 13$131.1 Million (Second-largest daily loss)

Friday, August 14$56.2 Million – $57.6 Million

Performance of Major Institutional Funds

Heavyweight institutional issuers bore the brunt of the weekly redemptions. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), the largest spot Bitcoin ETF by assets under management, was one of the primary contributors to the outflows. This aligns with its prominent role during the historic June redemption wave, where the fund alone processed billions of dollars in outflows.

Other major funds similarly struggled to retain capital during the August 10–14 trading period:
