CAPMAS: 81% of Trademarks in Egypt Were Granted to Egyptians in 2025

 The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued on Thursday, August 13, 2026, the Annual Bulletin of Patents and Trademarks for the year 2025. The report aims to foster awareness among young researchers by highlighting the volume, characteristics, and fields of innovations, patents, and trademarks applied for and granted to Egyptians and foreign nationals, in accordance with international classifications.

Patents: Applications and Grants

The data indicated a slight decline in patent applications but a significant drop in the number of patents officially granted during the year.

The following table summarizes the patent activity at the Egyptian Patent Office in 2025 compared to 2024:

1st Place: Egypt led the list, securing 27 patents (26.5% of the total).

2nd Place: The United States of America followed with 20 patents (19.6%).

3rd Place: France ranked third, securing 9 patents (8.8%).

Trademarks: Applications and Grants

The trademark sector also witnessed a contraction in both applications and granted marks compared to the previous year. However, Egyptian applicants maintained a dominant share of the granted trademarks.

Egypt: 6,339 trademarks (81.0%)

United States of America: 418 trademarks (5.3%)

United Arab Emirates: 228 trademarks (2.9%)
