Biometric SIM Registration System Projected to Cost Telecom Operators Up to EGP 2 Billion
Sources within mobile telecom companies estimate that implementing a biometric registration system for SIM card sales across official operator branches will cost between EGP 1.2 billion and EGP 2 billion.
The rollout comes in compliance with regulatory controls established by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA). The measures are designed to combat identity fraud and prevent SIM cards from being fraudulently registered under citizens' names without their knowledge or consent.
