Foodics Wraps Up Third “Foodics Folks” Internship Program to Prepare Egypt’s Future F&B Workforce
Foodics, a leading restaurant management and fintech solutions provider in the Middle East and North Africa, has concluded the third edition of its annual Foodics Folks summer internship program, expanding its efforts to develop young talent and strengthen Egypt’s growing food and beverage industry.
The month-long initiative targeted university students between the ages of 18 and 21, combining corporate training with hands-on restaurant experience to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of how modern F&B businesses operate. The program is part of Foodics’ broader strategy to bridge the gap between academic education and the practical skills required in the hospitality sector.
The internship began with two weeks of training at Foodics’ Egypt office, where students worked alongside teams across multiple business functions, including human resources, marketing, accounting, sales coordination, customer onboarding, software engineering, customer success, performance marketing, and AI and data science. The experience introduced participants to the technology and business processes that support restaurant operations and digital transformation.
For the second half of the program, interns moved into real-world restaurant environments through Foodics' network of partner brands. Participants gained first-hand operational experience at restaurants including Abou Shakra, Vasko, Maine, Canelé Patisserie, Takosan, Karak Boy, Hird’s, Süss, and Sno, allowing them to better understand customer service, day-to-day operations, workflow management, and the increasing role of digital platforms in improving efficiency across the F&B sector.
In addition to operational training, the program emphasized the development of essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving, and customer-focused thinking, equipping students with competencies expected in today's hospitality industry.
Belal Zahran, Chief Revenue Officer at Foodics, said the third edition reflected the growing interest among university students and the positive impact the initiative has achieved since its launch.
"We are proud to conclude the third edition of Foodics Folks after seeing exceptional demand from students and the meaningful impact the program has delivered over the past years," Zahran said. "Our goal is to help young people transition from university into professional careers by giving them the skills, experience, and mindset needed to become the next generation of leaders in the F&B industry."
He added that when Foodics launched the initiative, structured opportunities for students to gain practical experience in the restaurant industry were relatively limited. Today, he noted, more organizations are introducing similar programs, reflecting a wider industry commitment to investing in young talent and supporting the long-term sustainability of the hospitality sector.
Beyond career development, the internship also introduced participants to the digital technologies reshaping the restaurant business. By working with Foodics' teams and partner restaurants, students explored how cloud-based management platforms and easy-to-use digital solutions are helping restaurants streamline operations, improve efficiency, and accelerate business growth, while preparing the industry for a more technology-driven future.
