Paymob Brings UAE’s Jaywan Payment Scheme to Online and In-Store Merchants
Egyptian fintech Paymob has expanded its payment acceptance capabilities in the United Arab Emirates by enabling merchants to accept Jaywan, the country's domestic card payment scheme, across both e-commerce platforms and point-of-sale (POS) terminals.
The move strengthens Paymob's presence in the UAE market while supporting the country's broader efforts to accelerate digital payments through the nationwide rollout of the Jaywan network, which is operated by Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE.
With the integration, businesses using Paymob's payment infrastructure can now accept transactions made with Jaywan cards online and in physical stores, giving merchants access to a wider customer base while providing consumers with an additional local payment option.
The launch comes as the UAE continues expanding the adoption of Jaywan across banks, merchants and payment providers. Introduced as the country's national card scheme, Jaywan is designed to strengthen the domestic payments ecosystem, reduce transaction costs and support the UAE's cashless economy strategy.
For Paymob, the integration further broadens its omnichannel payment offering in the UAE, where the company provides merchants with online payment gateways, POS solutions, payment links and other digital payment services.
The latest expansion builds on Paymob's continued investment in the Gulf market following its entry into the UAE, where the fintech has been steadily extending its merchant acquiring and payment acceptance capabilities. Earlier this year, the company secured a Retail Payment Services licence from the Central Bank of the UAE, enabling it to offer a full suite of merchant payment services in the country.
Jaywan has rapidly gained momentum since its launch, with major banks, payment processors and fintech companies integrating the scheme as the UAE seeks to build a resilient domestic payments infrastructure while maintaining compatibility with international card networks.
