MSMEDA Launches the 31st Edition of the ”Made in Damietta” Exhibition in Alexandria to Support Local Furniture Industry
As part of the state’s efforts to open new marketing horizons for furniture manufacturers and support Damietta's furniture clusters as a key pillar of economic development, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) continues to implement a comprehensive strategy to advance the furniture industry in Damietta Governorate. This is achieved by organizing the "Made in Damietta" provincial exhibition series, which has proven highly successful in promoting premium Damietta furniture and expanding its reach across diverse local markets.
In this context, MSMEDA inaugurated on Thursday the 31st edition of the "Made in Damietta" exhibition in Alexandria. Hosted for the second consecutive year at the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, the event runs from July 30 to August 8, 2026. It features 62 furniture manufacturers representing MSMEDA clients and the Professional Syndicate Committee for Furniture Industry Workers in Damietta.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mohamed Medhat, Deputy CEO of MSMEDA; Dr. Wael Mostafa, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University; Dr. Amira Yassin Heikal, Deputy Governor of Alexandria; alongside a host of officials from the Agency, the Governorate, and the University.
Speaking on the sidelines of the opening, Mostafa Ismail Hassan, CEO of MSMEDA, stated that organizing the exhibition aligns with the Agency's strategy to develop productive clusters across governorates. He emphasized MSMEDA’s strong focus on clusters renowned for their skilled workforce and high-quality products, noting that such initiatives boost product competitiveness, create sustainable and decent job opportunities, and enhance the role of small enterprises in supporting the national economy.
Hassan pointed out that MSMEDA is actively implementing the directives of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister and Chairman of MSMEDA’s Board of Directors, to expand exhibitions and provide marketing support for small productive and industrial enterprises, ensuring their continuity and growth.
The MSMEDA CEO added that the "Made in Damietta" series has achieved remarkable success in previous editions. The 2025 exhibitions in Alexandria and Suez, alongside the 2026 Sohag edition, witnessed massive public turnout and generated exceptional sales. This success has encouraged the Agency to continue organizing and expanding the series to reach the widest possible range of governorates.
Hassan concluded by affirming that MSMEDA continues to coordinate with various partners to execute the state’s ambitious strategy for advancing the Egyptian furniture industry, recognizing it as a promising national sector. He noted that these exhibitions not only support manufacturers but also provide consumers with premium Egyptian products combining high quality, diverse designs, and affordable prices. This ultimately solidifies the local market position of Egypt's furniture industry and supports its potential for growth and expansion.
On his part, Mohamed Medhat, Deputy CEO of MSMEDA, explained that the series aims to open new marketing channels for small-scale furniture manufacturers in Damietta, thereby boosting their sales volumes, enhancing their production capabilities, and encouraging operational expansion. He stressed that marketing is a crucial element for the success and sustainability of small enterprises. Consequently, MSMEDA is dedicated to organizing specialized exhibitions across various governorates to ensure a broader geographical reach for Egyptian products.
