Egyptian Tax Authority to Launch Real Estate Tax App and Introduce ”White List” for Compliant Taxpayers
Rasha Abdel Aal, Head of the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA), has announced that the authority is preparing to launch a new mobile application dedicated to the Real Estate Transaction Tax. The app will allow individuals to calculate their owed taxes, make electronic payments, and issue clearance certificates within minutes. This initiative is part of the ETA's second package of tax facilitations aimed at simplifying procedures and encouraging tax compliance.
Abdel Aal stated that this second package includes a series of decisive and effective executive reforms designed to provide premium services to compliant taxpayers. The reforms align with the directives of the Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, to incentivize and promote voluntary tax compliance through enhanced facilitations and rewards.
The "White List" and the Tax Excellence Card
A major highlight of the new package is the introduction of a "White List" for the most compliant taxpayers.
Automated Selection: Taxpayers will be selected for this list automatically based on objective risk analysis criteria, without any human intervention, ensuring fairness and transparency.
Exclusive Benefits: White List members will enjoy several perks, most notably the immediate refund of Value Added Tax (VAT), certificates of appreciation and medals, and priority access to specialized units such as the Advance Ruling Unit and the Investor Support Unit. A dedicated independent hotline will also be allocated for their service.
Tax Excellence Card: Compliant taxpayers will receive a "Tax Excellence Card" divided into three tiers: Platinum, Gold, and Silver. This card is designed to expedite their procedures and service delivery within the ETA.
Abdel Aal confirmed that the names of the taxpayers included in the White List will be officially announced and honored during the upcoming "Shokran 2" (Thank You 2) conference.
Real Estate Transaction Tax Mobile App
Detailing the new mobile application, the Head of the ETA explained that it will offer a seamless, fully digital experience. Users will be able to upload required documents directly via their smartphones. The system will then automatically calculate the exact value of the Real Estate Transaction Tax owed.
Furthermore, the app provides a secure gateway for electronic payment and instant issuance of the tax clearance certificate, eliminating the need for citizens to physically visit ETA branches. It will also allow users to track the status of their requests electronically, accelerating the fulfillment of tax obligations and significantly improving the taxpayer experience.
