Dubai Islamic Bank Launches ”Jaywan” Debit Card to Boost UAE’s National Payment Ecosystem

Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), the largest Islamic bank in the United Arab Emirates and a leading global Islamic financial institution, has announced the launch of the "Jaywan" debit card. The move reflects the bank's firm commitment to supporting the UAE's vision of building a secure, flexible, and highly efficient national payment ecosystem backed by an independent domestic infrastructure.

With this launch, DIB is offering its current and savings account holders the opportunity to utilize "Jaywan," the UAE's first-of-its-kind domestic payment card scheme. The initiative aligns with the nation's broader strategic goals to advance its financial infrastructure.

The "Jaywan" scheme was developed by Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), to create an integrated national card network, enhance the resilience of the country's payment systems, and ensure the secure, localized processing of payment data.

A Milestone for UAE Digital Sovereignty

By rolling out the "Jaywan" card, DIB is playing an instrumental role in expanding a national payment network tailored to the UAE's economic and digital priorities. The initiative bolsters national sovereignty over payment infrastructure and cements the UAE's ambitions to remain a leader in digital payments and financial innovation.

Dr. Adnan Chilwan, Group CEO of Dubai Islamic Bank, highlighted the strategic importance of the launch:

"The launch of the Jaywan national payment scheme is a milestone in the UAE's journey toward a more sovereign, resilient, and future-ready payment ecosystem. As the largest Islamic bank in the country, it is our responsibility to support national initiatives that strengthen the pillars of the national economy and turn strategic visions into reality through widespread adoption. Through this launch, we continue to support a national payment infrastructure designed in line with the UAE's priorities, providing a secure and seamless payment method for our customers that keeps pace with the country's rapid digital transformation."

The Jaywan debit card will be immediately available to DIB customers holding current and savings accounts, ensuring they have access to secure, smooth, and locally optimized payment solutions.
