Attijariwafa Bank Egypt Launches WafaRemit for Faster Inbound Transfers
Attijariwafa Bank Egypt has launched WafaRemit, a new remittance service allowing customers abroad to send money to beneficiaries in Egypt, with funds available for collection or deposit within seconds.
Recipients can collect transfers in cash through more than 60 Attijariwafa Bank Egypt branches across the country, providing families with wider access to incoming remittances without the need to hold a bank account.
The service also allows transferred funds to be deposited directly into accounts held with Attijariwafa Bank Egypt. Customers may alternatively route the money to an account at another Egyptian bank through the domestic Automated Clearing House system.
WafaRemit is designed primarily to support Egyptians working abroad and their families by offering several ways to receive funds, reducing processing time and making international transfers more convenient.
The launch strengthens the bank’s digital payments and remittance offering as financial institutions in Egypt expand services aimed at capturing a larger share of overseas transfers and encouraging more transactions through formal banking channels.
