Nvidia has announced the development of a new artificial intelligence-powered tool capable of detecting deepfake videos—whether generated or manipulated by AI—in just 22 milliseconds. This rapid-response technology aims to combat the growing proliferation of deepfakes that threaten the reliability of visual content across the internet.
Unveiled during the SIGGRAPH 2026 conference, the Synthetic Video Detector is specifically designed to assist media organizations, corporations, and digital platforms in verifying the authenticity of videos prior to publication. However, Nvidia clarified that the tool is intended to complement, rather than completely replace, journalistic verification processes or digital forensic analysis.
How It Works and Integration
The tool relies on advanced AI models that conduct a frame-by-frame analysis of the video. It then assigns a probability score to each clip, determining the likelihood of it being AI-generated or altered.
Offered as part of the NVIDIA NIM Microservices, the technology allows organizations to seamlessly integrate it into their existing workflows without the need to build separate content-checking platforms. This makes it highly suitable for fast-paced sectors such as media, digital security, and content moderation.

When running on RTX graphics cards, the Synthetic Video Detector can analyze 1080p video in approximately 22 ms, enabling near-instantaneous auditing during content production or review stages.
