Egyptian Tax Authority Urges Freelancers to Register for Electronic Tax Systems
The Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) has called on freelancers and self-employed professionals to register for its electronic tax systems, emphasizing that operating within the formal economy reflects professionalism, safeguards taxpayers' rights, and enables eligible individuals to benefit from the Simplified Tax System for businesses with annual revenues not exceeding EGP 20 million.
The authority explained that the simplified tax system offers streamlined electronic procedures and greater facilitation for taxpayers, while ensuring that all transactions are documented and processed through digital platforms, supporting Egypt's broader digital transformation strategy.
Electronic Invoice and Electronic Receipt Systems
The ETA also encouraged taxpayers seeking more information about the Electronic Invoice System to consult the official user guide available through its designated online platform. In addition, it provides a dedicated guide for the Electronic Receipt System, which is designed for businesses dealing directly with end consumers.
The authority noted that taxpayers can obtain technical assistance by calling its hotline (16395) or by visiting the Digital Transformation Support Center at the General Treasury Building or the Support Center of the Central Administration for Electronic Transactions.
