Supreme Council for Media Regulation Warns Against Unverified Real Estate Ads in New Cities

The Supreme Council for Media Regulation has issued a strict warning to news websites and digital platforms against publishing or promoting advertisements and marketing materials for real estate projects within new cities without first verifying their legal status.

In an official directive, the Council clarified that this warning follows a formal communication from the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities. The Ministry highlighted a concerning surge in promotional and marketing materials for real estate projects within new urban developments that bypass legal verification, a practice that constitutes deception and fraud against the public.

To combat this issue and protect consumers, the Council has mandated that all platforms must consult the New Urban Communities Authority or the respective city's administrative authority—depending on the specific nature and location of the project—prior to publishing any promotional content. This mandatory verification step is designed to prevent media outlets from inadvertently becoming complicit in misleading or defrauding potential buyers.
