CAIRO – vivo is preparing to introduce the vivo Y500 to the Egyptian market soon, expanding its mid-range smartphone portfolio with a device focused on extended battery life, durability, multimedia performance and AI-powered features.

The smartphone has not yet been officially launched in Egypt, and vivo Egypt has not disclosed its local release date or pricing. However, local reports indicate that the device is expected to arrive in the market in the near future. (صدى البلد)

According to vivo’s official product specifications, the Y500 is equipped with an 8,100mAh BlueVolt battery, supported by 44W fast charging, bypass charging and reverse charging. The company says the battery is designed to retain reliable performance over six years, while the device has also undergone long-term optimization testing aimed at maintaining smooth operation for up to 50 months. The phone features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution of 2,800 × 1,260 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate and local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits. It also includes dual stereo speakers and eye-protection technologies designed to improve viewing during gaming, video streaming and outdoor use. (Vivo)

Performance is powered by an eight-core chipset manufactured using a 6nm process, with clock speeds reaching 2.2GHz. The international version is offered with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, alongside support for up to 8GB of extended virtual RAM. The device does not support external memory cards. (Vivo)

The vivo Y500 is a 4G smartphone, rather than a 5G model, and supports dual-SIM connectivity. It runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 in the market where it has been officially listed, although the software interface offered in Egypt may vary depending on the regional version. (Vivo)

For photography, the handset carries a 50MP Sony IMX852 main camera supported by a 2MP depth sensor, while the front houses a 32MP wide-angle selfie camera. Camera features include Night mode, Portrait mode, Live Photo, Dual View, underwater photography and AI-based tools such as AI Erase 2.0 and AI UHD 2.0. (Vivo)

Durability is another major selling point. The device carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance and has passed a MIL-STD-810H military-grade shock-resistance test. It also supports wet-hand and greasy-hand touch controls, although vivo notes that water resistance may decline over time and does not cover liquid damage caused by improper use. (Vivo)

Other features include an in-display fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.4, dual-band Wi-Fi, USB Type-C connectivity and a large vapor-chamber cooling system. NFC and 5G connectivity are not supported on the version currently listed by vivo. (Vivo)

The phone is currently offered in selected international markets in Midnight Blue and Pearl White, with 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB configurations. Egyptian pricing and the exact locally available specifications are expected to be announced when vivo confirms the device’s official launch. (Vivo)
