Egypt”s Unified Procurement Authority Discusses Localizing Radiopharmaceutical Industry with Poland”s Synektik
Dr. Hisham Steit, Head of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and the Management of Medical Technology (UPA), met with officials from the Polish company Synektik, a leading nuclear medicine and radiopharmaceutical firm in Central and Eastern Europe. The company specializes in the development and production of radiopharmaceuticals used in oncology diagnostics and treatment, while also providing advanced medical imaging solutions and technologies. Synektik boasts extensive expertise in research and development, alongside supporting innovation in diagnostics and radiotherapy.
The meeting focused on exploring avenues to enhance mutual cooperation between the two parties, particularly regarding increasing the company's investments in the Egyptian market. Discussions also centered on evaluating opportunities to localize the radiopharmaceutical industry and facilitate technology transfer. These initiatives aim to bolster the state's capabilities and solidify Egypt's position as a regional hub for advanced medical industries and nuclear medicine.
Dr. Steit affirmed the UPA’s full support for Synektik’s efforts to expand its footprint in the Egyptian market. He emphasized the state's strong commitment to encouraging foreign investment, localizing strategic industries, and transferring advanced technologies—especially within the radiopharmaceutical and nuclear medicine sectors. This approach closely aligns with the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030, which seeks to boost local manufacturing, achieve self-sufficiency, support innovation, and firmly establish Egypt as a premier regional center for the medical and pharmaceutical industries.
