Minister of Communications and Information Technology heads to Geneva to participate in the activities of Geneva Digital Week

Eng. Rafat Hindi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, left Cairo this evening, heading to Geneva, Switzerland at the head of a high-level delegation to participate in the activities of the Geneva Digital Week, which includes Egypt's presidency of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS Forum 2026), organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in cooperation with UNESCO, the United Nations Development Program, and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, in partnership with more than 50 United Nations entities, and with the participation of representatives of governments, the private sector, civil society, technical communities, academics, youth and international organizations from around the world. The Forum is the main international platform for following up the implementation of the outcomes of the World Summit on the Information Society and promoting digital cooperation at the global level.

This year's session highlights the importance of concerted efforts by all stakeholders in order to develop the digital society by supporting the development of digital infrastructure, digital inclusion, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, in addition to discussing topics related to emerging risks, such as Internet safety challenges, misinformation, data management concerns, and widening the digital divide, enabling multilateral responses to the changing digital reality.

The program of the visit includes the participation of Eng. Rafat Hindi in the AI for Good Global Summit organized by the International Telecommunication Union in partnership with more than 50 United Nations entities and organizations, and in cooperation with the Government of Switzerland.

Egypt's participation in these international events comes in confirmation of its keenness to strengthen cooperation with various countries and international organizations, expand partnerships with various countries and international organizations, and contribute to international discussions concerned with current and future developments in the fields of communications and information technology, which contributes to the exchange of experiences and visions, in addition to reviewing the Egyptian experience in these fields, reviewing the latest global trends in advanced technologies, and continuing efforts at the national, regional and international levels in terms of discussing and implementing frameworks for artificial intelligence governance.

On the sidelines of his participation in the Geneva Digital Week, Eng. Rafat Hindi is scheduled to hold a number of meetings with ministers, government officials, officials of international companies and international organizations to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences, and explore new opportunities for partnership in the fields of communications and information technology.
