MCIT Highlights Women Empowerment Efforts at National Consultation Workshop on NIFGE
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) participated in the National Consultation Workshop on the National Investment Framework for Girls in Egypt (NIFGE), held on June 29–30 at the Institute of National Planning. The event was organized by the National Council for Women in cooperation with UNICEF, the United Nations Population Fund, UN Women, and NIFGE partners, along with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood.
Discussions centered on the four pillars of NIFGE: social protection and care; health and wellbeing; protection; and skills, education, and economic inclusion. Participants agreed that investing in girls is an investment in Egypt's future, calling for closer coordination between government agencies and development partners, and for evidence-based policies that give girls a genuine voice in shaping the policies that affect them. The conversation also touched on education, health, protection, economic empowerment, and digital skills, as well as the need for a robust monitoring and evaluation system to track impact, all reflecting the government's broader vision of investing in people as the foundation of comprehensive, sustainable development.
During the workshop, MCIT showcased its work in supporting girls and women through the Qodwa-Tech initiative, which builds digital and economic capacity, prepares women for the job market, and strengthens their role in the digital economy. The Ministry also presented a wider set of community initiatives, including programs that prepare young people for local and global job markets, promote freelancing and entrepreneurship, advance digital inclusion for people with disabilities, and encourage safe technology use through Wa3i.net Platform.
The workshop drew high-level participation from leading experts and specialists, alongside representatives of civil society organizations. It formed part of a broader national effort to develop a strategic framework that aligns resources, investments, and programs around empowering girls, guided by evidence-based priorities, stronger public policy, and integrated services tailored to girls at every stage of life.
MCIT's involvement reflects its role in supporting Egypt's drive toward an inclusive digital society that offers equal opportunity for all. By harnessing technology to advance economic and social empowerment, the Ministry continues to equip girls with the digital skills they will need for the future, in line with Egypt's sustainable development vision and the Digital Egypt strategy.
