Egyptian Food Exports to China Surge by 151% in 2025, Reaching $137 Million

Mai Khairy, Executive Director of the Food Export Council (FEC), revealed that Egyptian food industry exports to China achieved unprecedented growth during 2025, surging by 151% compared to 2024.

During a workshop organized by the Council focusing on registration procedures for the Chinese GACC (General Administration of Customs of China) platform, Khairy stated that the sector's exports reached approximately $137 million in 2025, up from $55 million in 2024. Meanwhile, total Egyptian food exports to the Chinese market recorded approximately $552 million over the period from 2020 to 2025.

She added that frozen strawberries topped the list of Egyptian food exports to China, generating $83.8 million and accounting for 61% of the sector's total exports. This was followed by prepared animal feed, valued at $46 million (representing 33%), and essential oils and resinoids at $4.5 million.

Khairy emphasized that these strong indicators reflect the growing competitiveness of Egyptian food products within the Chinese market. This success is heavily driven by expanding market access opportunities and the continuously improving performance of Egyptian exporting companies.
