IMEX CEO Says Egypt Has Strong Potential to Become a Global Business Events Destination
Egypt possesses exceptional competitive advantages that could establish it as a leading global destination for meetings, conferences, and international exhibitions, according to Carina Bauer, CEO of IMEX Group, organizer of the IMEX exhibition in Germany.
Speaking during an interview with Extra News television’s Haza Al Sabah program, Bauer said Egypt’s appeal extends beyond its strategic geographical location to its rich cultural and historical heritage, which can provide international events with a distinctive experience that is difficult to replicate elsewhere.
She added that the country’s stability, economic potential, and reputation for hospitality further strengthen its position as a promising destination within the global meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions industry.
Bauer said international interest in Egypt has grown considerably in recent years, with an increasing number of buyers and event organizers seeking to learn more about the opportunities available in the Egyptian market.
She noted that global industry professionals are increasingly interested in meeting local partners and exploring potential areas of future cooperation, reflecting growing confidence in Egypt’s ability to host major international events.
According to Bauer, the global business events industry is no longer focused solely on finding venues for conferences and meetings. Organizers are now looking for destinations that can provide participants with an integrated experience before, during, and after an event.
Egypt, she said, is well positioned to meet that demand by combining a modern business environment with a rich tourism and cultural offering capable of enhancing the overall experience for international delegates.
Bauer emphasized that Egypt’s diverse destinations, archaeological sites, tourism infrastructure, and distinctive cultural identity give it an important advantage when competing for major conferences, exhibitions, and corporate events.
She added that participation in international exhibitions and industry gatherings remains essential to building confidence, strengthening relationships with global event organizers, and maintaining Egypt’s visibility within the international business events market.
Continued engagement with buyers, professional associations, and international partners could help Egypt convert growing interest into new conferences and exhibitions, she said.
Bauer concluded that Egypt has the core assets required to build a stronger position in the international meetings industry, provided it continues promoting its capabilities, strengthening partnerships, and presenting itself as a destination that offers both high-quality business facilities and memorable visitor experiences.
