Business Bil Arabi Unveils Landmark Report at SMEs Summit: Micro-Enterprises Make Up 90% of Egypt’s Market
Speaking at the SMEs Summit this Saturday, Ahmed Rashad, founder of the "Business Bil Arabi" platform, revealed the findings of a comprehensive new report detailing the realities of startups and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Egypt. Driven by the pressing need for accurate market data, the report was developed through strategic partnerships with top-tier financial and governmental entities, including CIB, Thndr, Mastercard, and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA).
The groundbreaking study maps out an ecosystem of approximately 3 million enterprises operating within the Egyptian market. Remarkably, the data shows that 90% of these entities are micro-enterprises employing fewer than 10 individuals. While the SME sector forms the backbone of the economy—employing nearly 75% of the nation's workforce—a staggering 80% of this economic activity remains in the informal sector, highlighting a vast, untapped potential for formal integration.
"Our goal goes beyond merely presenting numbers. We aim to raise awareness of the real challenges facing this sector and build sustainable bridges between SMEs and key public and private stakeholders," stated Rashad.
To turn these insights into action, Business Bil Arabi is transitioning from a media platform to a comprehensive business hub, actively building a professional community of 150 to 200 SMEs to foster collaboration, share expertise, and unlock new market opportunities.
