PM Madbouly Witnesses Launch of Egypt”s ”Foreign Trade Information Portal” Packed with 60M Data Records
The Egyptian government has officially launched the "Foreign Trade Information Portal," the country’s largest integrated national platform for foreign trade intelligence, featuring over 60 million data records sourced from local and international databases. The platform is engineered to support exporters and investors with advanced analytics, enabling efficient corporate decision-making and enhancing the global competitiveness of Egyptian exports.
Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly witnessed the launching ceremony of the new portal, which was developed by the Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) in coordination with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, at the IDSC headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade emphasized that the portal serves as a strategic instrument to empower the Egyptian business community. As international trade grows increasingly complex and competitive, providing up-to-date databases and sophisticated analytical tools is critical to helping exporters identify promising trade corridors and understand diverse market requirements.
The platform's comprehensive data architecture includes:
Over 60 million data records extracted from premium domestic and international entities, including the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Bank, and the International Trade Centre (ITC).
Comprehensive coverage of approximately 6,650 customs tariff lines under the Harmonized System (HS Code).
Detailed, granular metrics covering cross-border export/import flows, target markets, and diverse industrial sectors.
Dr. Osama El-Gohary, Assistant to the Prime Minister and Chairman of the IDSC, stated that the portal represents Egypt’s primary national reference for commercial and industrial data analysis. By consolidating fragmented local and global databases into a unified dashboard, the platform grants manufacturers, investors, and exporters instant access to global market intelligence.
El-Gohary noted that the platform provides a comprehensive analytical overview for each of the 6,650 HS codes, helping the business community track shifts in global demand, benchmark destination markets, and monitor non-tariff barriers (NTBs) affecting the access of Egyptian commodities to foreign ports. Furthermore, the portal delivers updated monthly dashboards on Egypt's foreign trade performance alongside tools designed to map import gaps and promising export opportunities, thereby directing domestic capex toward high-growth industries.
Looking ahead, the IDSC revealed strategic blueprints to integrate the portal directly with the databases of the Ministry of Industry, the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade. This inter-agency data synergy will offer a centralized ecosystem combining active investment opportunities with industrial and trade incentives, optimizing capital deployment and strengthening the structural competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.
