The Egyptian Food Export Council has revealed that the European Union topped the list of international regional blocs achieving the highest growth in importing Egyptian food products during the January–April 2026 period. Exports to the EU reached $551 million, marking a $72 million increase and a 15% growth rate year-on-year.
The Council clarified that Arab countries retained their position as the largest aggregate importer of Egyptian food products, valued at $1.126 billion and accounting for 46% of total exports. Meanwhile, food exports to the United States recorded an 11% growth, reaching $160 million.
On an individual country level, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia maintained its lead as the largest single importer of Egyptian food goods, valued at $213 million with a 21% growth. The United States followed in second place at $160 million, while Jordan ranked third at $110 million.
Spain topped the list of the fastest-growing markets, with Egyptian food exports to the country surging by 103% to reach $103 million. Spain secured the highest value increase among major markets, climbing by $52 million, a milestone heavily driven by a spike in shipments of edible oils, olive oil, and processed olives.
Furthermore, markets in China, Palestine, and the United Kingdom recorded robust growth rates of 42%, 47%, and 61% respectively. These figures underscore the success of Egyptian enterprises in expanding within promising international markets and boosting the global presence of Egyptian food products.
