Egyptian Ministry of Labor Warns Against Fake Overseas Job Ads, Affirms Official Opportunities Are Completely Free

The Egyptian Ministry of Labor has issued a strong warning to citizens seeking employment abroad, urging them not to fall victim to fake job advertisements. In an official statement, the Ministry emphasized that applying for state-sponsored overseas opportunities is entirely free and must be done exclusively through accredited official channels.

The Ministry clarified that it is the sole official authority mandated to supervise the deployment of the national workforce abroad and to execute bilateral labor agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed with allied nations. Working in coordination with counterpart governmental bodies in host countries, the Ministry directly oversees all stages of the recruitment process to ensure safe, sustainable, and legal employment that protects workers' rights and guarantees transparency and equal opportunity for all applicants.

Warning Against Unlicensed Brokers The Ministry sternly warned citizens against being misled by unlicensed individuals, social media pages, or fraudulent companies that exploit the youth's aspirations to work abroad by demanding financial payments in exchange for processing employment or travel procedures.

Citizens are urged to strictly adhere to official guidelines and avoid dealing with unauthorized brokers or unofficial platforms claiming connections to overseas jobs or international labor agreements. The Ministry specifically highlighted the seasonal agricultural labor agreement signed with the Republic of Greece as a prime target for such scams, advising the public to remain vigilant.

Exclusive Application Channels and Verification All applications for overseas employment must be submitted directly through the official webpage of the Ministry of Labor, which publishes comprehensive details regarding required professions, eligibility criteria, and application mechanisms. The Ministry reiterated its "zero-fee" policy, stressing that it utilizes absolutely no intermediaries or brokers.

To inquire about or verify the authenticity of any overseas job opportunity, citizens are directed to visit the General Administration for Employment at the Ministry’s old headquarters (3 Youssef Abbas Street, Nasr City, Cairo) or their respective local labor directorates. Additionally, individuals can verify the licensing status of any private recruitment agency at the General Administration for Employment Agencies at the same Nasr City address.

Concluding its statement, the Ministry of Labor renewed its absolute commitment to protecting the rights of the Egyptian workforce domestically and internationally. It vowed to take decisive legal action, in coordination with security agencies, against anyone proven to be promoting fake job ads or operating an unlicensed overseas recruitment business.
