Egyptian Students Win Five Global Awards at Huawei ICT Competition 2025-2026 Finals in China
Egyptian teams achieved a remarkable accomplishment at the Huawei ICT Competition Global Finals, held in Shenzhen, China, by securing two Grand Prizes in the Computing and Cloud tracks, first place in the Innovation Track, and second place in the Network Track. In addition, Dr. Mohamed Maher from the Faculty of Information Systems and Computer Science at October 6 University was honored with the prestigious The Most Valuable Instructor award, highlighting the excellence of Egyptian talent and its ability to earn the highest global accolades in technology and education.
Egypt secured five prestigious international awards, placing the country among only eight nations worldwide to win a Grand Prize during the 10th edition of the competition. This achievement further reinforces Egypt’s growing position as a regional and global hub for digital talent and innovation.
In the Cloud Track, the Egyptian team comprising Abdelrahman Adel El Bahrwy (Ain Shams University), Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Latif Talha (Beni Suef National University), and Mohamed Salah El-Din Abou El-Kheir (Mansoura University) won the Grand Prize for their outstanding performance in cloud computing technologies and their ability to deliver practical solutions to technical challenges.
Meanwhile, the Computing Track team, consisting of Mahmoud Ahmed Alam El-Din (King Salman International University), Ahmed Omar Nawara (Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport), and Karim Gamal (Ain Shams University), also secured the Grand Prize for their excellence in computing technologies.
In the Innovation Track, Ebrahim Anwar, Bishoy Magdy Boutros, and Ahmed El-Khouly from the Egypt University of Science and Technology (MUST) won first place for their innovative project, “Maneto,” a digital application designed to translate hieroglyphic texts. In the Network Track, the Egyptian team comprising Rami Khaled Kamal El-Din Moharram (Arab Open University), Kirollos Magdy Lotfy Habib (Assiut University), and Mohamed Khaled Eid Youssef (Higher Institute of Engineering in Fayoum) secured second place.
The competition also recognized Dr. Mohamed Maher from the Faculty of Information Systems and Computer Science at October 6 University as one of only 16 instructors worldwide to receive the The Most Valuable Instructor award, in recognition of the critical role educators play in preparing and empowering the next generation of ICT professionals.
In an exceptional achievement that reflects Egypt’s digital leadership, Egyptian students delivered an outstanding performance at the Huawei ICT Competition 2025–2026 Global Finals by winning five prestigious international awards. Their success placed Egypt among only eight countries worldwide to secure top honors during the competition’s tenth edition, reaffirming the nation’s position as a regional center for digital innovation and technological talent development.
The global finals concluded in Shenzhen, China, marking the largest edition of the competition since its launch. More than 220,000 students and academics from over 2,000 higher education institutions across more than 100 countries and regions participated. Following local and regional qualification rounds, 177 teams from 49 countries and regions advanced to the global finals.

Dr. Shafika Issac, Chief of the Technology and AI in Education Unit and Acting Director of UNESCO’s Institute for Information Technologies in Education, praised the ongoing partnership between UNESCO and Huawei, which continues to support AI capacity building, ICT education, and talent development across various regions, including the Arab world. She emphasized that preparing future generations for the AI era requires close collaboration among governments, academic institutions, international organizations, and the private sector, while commending participants for leveraging emerging technologies to address real-world challenges.
Since its launch in 2015, the Huawei ICT Competition has established itself as a leading global platform for talent development and collaboration between academia and the technology industry, helping students prepare for the rapidly evolving digital economy. To date, the competition has attracted more than 960,000 students from over 2,000 universities and educational institutions across more than 100 countries, while Egyptian teams have consistently achieved outstanding and advanced results across its various tracks year after year.
