Egypt Adds Semiconductor and Embedded Systems Companies to Export Rebate Program to Boost Advanced Technology Industries
Cairo, Egypt – Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Raafat Hindi, said the inclusion of electronics design, semiconductor, and embedded systems companies in the country’s export rebate program represents a strategic step aimed at supporting advanced technology industries and strengthening Egypt’s competitiveness in this high-value sector.
The remarks came as Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Raafat Hindi and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Dr. Mohamed Farid witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the Export Development Fund to include electronics design, semiconductor, embedded systems, and mobile phone services within Egypt’s Export Development Program for a period of seven years starting from fiscal year 2025/2026.
The move is designed to enhance the global competitiveness of Egyptian technology exports, support the expansion of high-value digital services, and increase access to international markets for Egyptian technology companies.
During the meeting, the two ministers also reviewed the progress of several joint digital transformation projects focused on improving investor services through integrated digital platforms linking multiple government entities. The initiative aims to simplify licensing procedures, accelerate services, and enhance Egypt’s business environment competitiveness.
Minister Raafat Hindi said the protocol aligns with the objectives of the presidential initiative “Egypt Manufactures Electronics,” which seeks to deepen local manufacturing, expand high-value-added industries, attract global design and development centers, and create quality employment opportunities for Egyptian youth.
He also highlighted Egypt’s growing attractiveness as a regional hub for electronics design and automotive software development, supported by the country’s expanding pool of highly skilled engineering talent.
Meanwhile, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Dr. Mohamed Farid said the inclusion of semiconductor and electronics design services within the export support framework reflects the government’s commitment to supporting promising technology sectors while continuing efforts to attract investments in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and semiconductor technologies.
Farid added that the new incentives are linked to actual export growth and employment preservation, ensuring sustainable economic impact and supporting the expansion of Egypt’s advanced technology ecosystem.
The protocol also includes efforts to accelerate the digitalization of investor services and redesign the investor journey through unified digital government platforms aimed at improving efficiency and reducing procedural complexity.
According to ITIDA CEO Ahmed Elzaher, Egypt’s electronics and semiconductor ecosystem is witnessing rapid growth and currently includes more than 86 companies operating in high-value design and development services, reinforcing Egypt’s position as an emerging regional technology hub.
The Export Development Fund also confirmed ongoing efforts to expand digital services and add new high-value export sectors to support the growth of Egyptian exports and streamline incentive disbursement procedures.
