The Governor of Alexandria signs a joint cooperation protocol with the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority

Within the framework of the state's directives to expand the projects of the technological structure and improve telecommunications services, Eng. Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria, and Eng. Mohammed Shamroukh, CEO of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, signed a joint cooperation protocol to support and develop the infrastructure of telecommunications networks and improve the quality of mobile phone services throughout the governorate, contributing to raising the efficiency of services provided to citizens and supporting the state's efforts in digital transformation and sustainable development.

The protocol aims to enable the establishment and development of the infrastructure of landline and mobile telephone networks by benefiting from the sites and facilities of the governorate in supporting plans to improve telecommunications services, especially in areas that are witnessing population density, increasing movement or need to develop networks, in order to improve the quality of coverage and the efficiency of telecommunications and Internet services within the governorate. The cooperation also includes coordination with licensed telecommunications companies, including Telecom Egypt, Orange, Vodafone, and Etisalat E& Egypt, in accordance with the laws and regulations issued by the competent authorities, to ensure the implementation of the works with the latest approved technical and engineering standards.

The Governor of Alexandria stressed that the protocol represents an important step towards enhancing the digital structure in the governorate and supporting economic and social development plans, as well as improving the level of smart services provided to citizens, especially in areas that need to raise the efficiency of coverage and improve the quality of networks. The Governor, Mr. Mohamed Salah, Secretary General of the Governorate, also directed to overcome any obstacles that companies may face during the implementation of works, and to accelerate and facilitate procedures, stressing that this protocol, which aims to improve telecommunications and Internet services for citizens in addition to expanding investment opportunities, is a national project.

The Governor of Alexandria thanked the Ministry of Communications for its support for this protocol, which comes in line with the Egyptian state's keenness to implement a number of major national projects that work to improve the quality of services provided to citizens and enhance investment opportunities in the city of Alexandria, especially as it is the second capital of Egypt and has huge investment elements.

For his part, *Engineer Mohamed Shamroukh*, CEO of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, stressed that the signing of this protocol comes within the framework of the Authority's organizational role in supporting the development of the infrastructure of telecommunications services, and improving the quality of services provided to citizens, through strengthening cooperation with the governorates and concerned authorities to facilitate executive procedures related to the extension and development of telecommunications networks, to ensure the rapid implementation of coverage plans and raising the efficiency of networks in various regions. He also added that the Authority is keen on continuous coordination with licensed telecommunications companies to overcome obstacles and accelerate the pace of investing in infrastructure, with full compliance with the approved technical and organizational controls, to support the state's efforts to achieve digital transformation and sustainable development.

The signing of the protocol was witnessed by Mr. Mohamed Salah, Secretary General of the Governorate, Major General Mohamed Ahmed Saeed, Vice President of the Authority for Infrastructure and Frequency Spectrum, Major General Mohamed Al-Ridi, Vice President of the Authority for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Engineer Mohamed Ibrahim, Executive Deputy and Spokesman of the Authority, in addition to representatives of the four telecommunications company operating in the Egyptian market; They are: Mr. Ayman Al-Saadni, Head of the Foreign Affairs Sector at Vodafone Egypt, Ms. Rania Gharib, Vice President of Orange Egypt for Regulatory and Legal Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Al-Amrousi, Head of Government Affairs Sector at E& Egypt, and Counselor Sherif Badawi, Head of the Regulatory Affairs, Government and Government Relations at Telecom Egypt.
