Telecom Egypt Mobile Subscribers Hit 15.2M in Q1 2026 Amid Broad Base Expansion
Telecom Egypt (TE) reported a 7% year-on-year (YoY) increase in its mobile subscriber base during the first quarter of 2026. Total mobile subscriptions reached 15.287 million, up from 14.306 million recorded during the same period in 2025.
The growth highlights a broader expansion across all operational segments, reflecting sustained retail demand driven by continuous network quality upgrades and optimized service delivery.
Quarterly Mobile Softness vs. Fixed Broadband Momentum
On a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis, the operator experienced a minor 1% contraction in mobile subscriptions compared to the fourth quarter of 2025, which had closed at 15.475 million subscribers. Financial analysts view this sequential shift as a minor seasonal consolidation within an otherwise stable customer retention curve.
Concurrently, Telecom Egypt’s fixed broadband and data subscription portfolios demonstrated strong momentum, expanding by 8% YoY during Q1 2026 to reach 11.234 million subscribers, compared to 10.376 million in Q1 2025. The data segment also maintained a positive sequential trajectory, gaining 1% over Q4 2025’s baseline of 11.132 million subscribers, confirming solid enterprise and home data utilization trends.
Fixed Voice Performance and Leadership Outlook
Fixed-line voice infrastructure metrics followed a similar expansion track, increasing by 7% YoY to 14.273 million active subscriptions in Q1 2026, up from 13.339 million in the prior-year period. Sequentially, the fixed voice base logged a 1% growth rate relative to the 14.126 million connections tracked in Q4 2025.
Eng. Tamer El-Mahdaly, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, stated that the company’s infrastructure investments have successfully accelerated adoption across all consumer segments. El-Mahdaly noted that the 7%, 8%, and 7% localized growth performance across mobile, fixed broadband, and fixed voice platforms respectively was structurally supported by the robust performance of the firm's next-generation networks.
