PlayReplay Secures $12 Million Investment to Expand AI-Powered Tennis Tech Globally and in the Middle East
PlayReplay, a startup developing AI-powered smart court systems for racket sports, has announced securing a $12 million investment from Alfvén & Didrikson (A&D) and other investors. The funding round also saw participation from Centre Court Capital, ExM Investment Partners, Charbe Partners, Crimson Sports Capital, and a fund managed by LionTree.
PlayReplay provides real-time Electronic Line Calling (ELC) technology, coupled with coaching tools and sports analytics, allowing players to access advanced technologies that were previously restricted to the highest professional levels. This transformative technology contributes to reinforcing the principles of fair play in tennis, rendering the game more interactive and data-driven. The solution has garnered widespread acclaim from players and sports federations globally due to its significant potential in enhancing the playing experience and increasing participation rates.
The investment will support PlayReplay's ongoing international expansion and the deployment of its technologies into additional global markets. It also aligns with the company's strategy to expand into the Middle East, focusing particularly on its key markets in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Egypt.
To support these efforts, PlayReplay has partnered with Söderhub as its local partner in the Middle East, a move designed to bolster investment opportunities and partnerships with regional institutions.
Commenting on the expansion, Magdi Shehata, Founder and CEO of Söderhub, stated: "PlayReplay's technology has already proven its merit, creating significant momentum in markets like the US and Canada. We believe the Middle East represents a robust long-term opportunity, given the accelerating ambitions, investments, and passion for next-generation sports infrastructure."
The funding will also facilitate PlayReplay's expansion into new sports, alongside the continued rollout of its technologies across global clubs and federations.
Måns Alfvén, Co-founder of Alfvén & Didrikson, commented: "PlayReplay is one of the fastest-growing companies in our portfolio, operating in a massive market encompassing over 250,000 courts in the US alone. Hans, Mattias, and the team have built impressive technology backed by strong execution, and we are excited to support them in their next phase of growth."
