Egyptian Investors Federation: Partnership Between Private Sector and Universities Is Key to Advancing Egyptian Industry
The Egyptian Federation of Investors Associations, chaired by Moharram Helal, praised the government’s strategy — represented by the Ministries of Industry and Higher Education and Scientific Research — aimed at strengthening cooperation between universities and the industrial sector to support the development of Egyptian industry through academic research centers and European development initiatives.
Tarek El-Gioushy, Chairman of the New October Investors Association and member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of Investors Associations, affirmed in press statements during his participation in the SEEDS Summit on Food Security and Sustainable Supply Chains that the Federation, under the leadership of Moharram Helal, is fully prepared to play a pivotal role in implementing the government’s industrial development strategy.
The SEEDS PRIMA Egypt Summit, held under the theme “Dialogue on Sustainable Food Policies,” was launched in the presence of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Ahmed El-Wakil, President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce. The summit brought together representatives of research institutions, international organizations, and the Federation of Investors Associations as part of efforts to strengthen partnerships between scientific research and policymaking to achieve food security and sustainable supply chains.
El-Gioushy revealed that he discussed with Minister Abdelaziz Konsowa, on the sidelines of the summit, ways to intensify cooperation between industrialists, universities, and research centers in support of the “Made in Egypt” strategy. He noted that recent months witnessed the signing of cooperation protocols with several universities, including October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA), to provide free practical training for engineering students focused on labor market needs and industrial requirements.
The Executive Committee member also reviewed a cooperation protocol expected to be signed within days with Misr University for Science and Technology (MUST). The agreement aims to prepare feasibility studies for projects that help students and graduates establish their own businesses, in support of entrepreneurship initiatives promoted by the Egyptian government in line with the directives of the political leadership.
El-Gioushy added that the collaboration between the industrial sector and universities received strong appreciation from the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, who pledged to expand the number of universities benefiting from free initiatives provided by the private sector, alongside increasing practical training programs for students at Egyptian universities.
