The Minister of Housing discusses with her Omani counterpart ways to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of housing and urban development.

On the sidelines of her participation in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku, Azerbaijan, held from May 17-22, 2026, under the theme "Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities," Engineer Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, met with Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed Al-Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning of the Sultanate of Oman, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the fields of housing and urban development.

At the outset of the meeting, Engineer El-Menshawy emphasized the deep historical ties between the two brotherly nations, noting the importance of strengthening cooperation in the housing and urban development sectors to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and improve the quality of life for citizens.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed several areas of cooperation, including the exchange of expertise in urban development and the establishment of new cities, mechanisms for achieving the Sustainable Urban Development Goals, and the sharing of experiences in the replanning and development of older areas to ensure the application of modern urban planning methods and improve the quality of the built environment.

 The two ministers also discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation between public and private companies in both countries in the fields of housing, urban development, and real estate development. They also discussed facilitating investment partnerships between Egyptian and Omani companies to contribute to the implementation of joint development projects.

Engineer Randa Al-Manshawi affirmed the readiness of Egyptian contracting companies to participate in development projects in the Sultanate of Oman, given their extensive experience in construction, infrastructure, and urban development, as well as the availability of highly qualified technical and human resources.

For his part, Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed Al-Shuaili expressed his appreciation for the comprehensive and unprecedented urban renaissance witnessed by the Arab Republic of Egypt in recent years. He commended the remarkable progress achieved in smart city projects, infrastructure, and social housing, reflecting a clear vision and political will supporting sustainable urban development. He also emphasized the Sultanate of Oman's keenness to benefit from Egypt's leading expertise in this field and to strengthen joint cooperation in a way that serves the interests of both countries.

 Dr. Khalfan bin Saeed Al-Shuaili praised the extensive experience and expertise of Egyptian companies in implementing national and development projects, and their achievements in the fields of construction and urban development.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination and activate joint cooperation mechanisms in the coming period, contributing to the advancement of sustainable urban development efforts and strengthening investment partnerships and the exchange of expertise between the two brotherly countries in various fields of housing and urban planning.
