Egypt Expands Global Software Quality Footprint as ITIDA Launches Fourth “Software Testing Day”

Egypt is accelerating its emergence as a regional and global hub for software quality engineering and AI-driven digital services, as the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) launched the fourth edition of “Software Testing Day” at Creativa Innovation Hub in Giza.

Organized by the Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC), the event brought together international experts, technology leaders, and quality engineering specialists from major global institutions and companies, highlighting Egypt’s growing role in advanced software testing and intelligent digital delivery services.

The conference was attended by Eng. Ahmed Elzaher, CEO of Information Technology Industry Development Agency, alongside Ms. Klaudia Dussa-Zieger, President of ISTQB, as well as senior executives and practitioners from leading international technology organizations.

This year’s edition witnessed the participation of around 42 international and local speakers, reflecting the rapid expansion of Egypt’s software testing ecosystem and the increasing global interest in the country’s technical capabilities.

Fourfold Growth Signals Maturity of Egypt’s Software Quality Industry

Speaking during the event, Elzaher said Software Testing Day has expanded nearly four times since its launch, driven by rising engagement from software professionals, technology companies, and quality engineering experts.

He noted that the growth reflects the increasing maturity of Egypt’s software testing sector and its evolution into a strategic pillar supporting the country’s competitiveness in global digital services markets.

“El-Zaher emphasized that Egypt continues to strengthen its position as a preferred destination for high-value digital services, supported by a large pool of highly qualified technical and multilingual talent, in addition to its strategic geographic location that enables efficient delivery to international markets.”

Artificial Intelligence Reshaping Software Quality

During an opening fireside discussion with Dr. Haitham Hamza, Chairman of SECC, Elzaher highlighted how artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming software development and testing methodologies.

He explained that software quality is no longer treated as a late-stage technical process, but rather as a strategic design principle integrated from the earliest phases of digital product development.

According to Elzaher, this transformation is increasing demand for highly advanced skills capable of managing AI-powered software environments and next-generation testing frameworks.

Egypt Strengthens Position in Global Digital Delivery

Elzaher also pointed to growing international confidence in Egypt’s digital capabilities, citing the expansion of global delivery centers and AI-focused operations established by multinational companies across the country.

He said international enterprises are increasingly relying on Egyptian engineers and specialists to deliver mission-critical software services and innovation capabilities, further reinforcing Egypt’s role as a strategic technology hub for regional and global markets.

The ITIDA CEO also highlighted the agency’s ongoing initiatives to develop digital talent and support freelancers through programs such as ITIDA Gigs and entrepreneurship-focused initiatives.

More Than 17,000 International Certifications Issued to Egyptian Engineers

For his part, Dr. Haitham Hamza reviewed SECC’s efforts to strengthen Egypt’s software quality ecosystem and align local practices with international standards.

He revealed that Egyptian professionals have obtained more than 17,282 ISTQB certifications, while the number of certified specialists exceeded 11,365 professionals.

Hamza also noted that 388 professionals have already obtained certifications in Generative AI testing disciplines, while Egypt currently offers 12 active ISTQB certification and examination tracks.

The figures underline the rapid expansion of Egypt’s internationally certified software testing workforce and its growing readiness to compete globally in advanced quality engineering and AI testing domains.

Rapid Expansion of Egypt’s Testing Community

The conference itself has witnessed remarkable growth over the past few years.

Participation increased from 180 attendees representing 40 companies in 2022 to more than 250 participants from 90 companies in 2024, before surging to over 880 participants from 330 companies in 2025.

The event is also part of the global ISTQB conference network, further strengthening Egypt’s status as a regional center for technology and software engineering events.

Egypt Launches First Software Acceptance Testing Guide

On the sidelines of the conference, SECC officially launched the pilot version of Egypt’s first Software Acceptance Testing Guide, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation journey.

Developed based on more than 25 years of SECC expertise, the framework introduces a unified methodology for testing software systems and digital projects to improve quality standards across government and enterprise transformation initiatives.

The guide includes more than 60 structured guidelines organized across seven major domains and is built on international best practices while remaining adaptable to different sectors and project environments.

Officials said the framework is designed to improve requirements clarity, enhance implementation quality, and accelerate digital project delivery.

Global Experts Discuss Future of AI-Powered Testing

The conference featured a keynote session titled “An Awkward Truth About Software Quality” delivered by Michael Pilaeten of SOFICO, alongside a series of advanced technical discussions focused on the future of AI-driven software quality.

One of the event’s main panel discussions, “Testing at the Speed of Thought: AI Testing ROI, Risks, and Roadmaps,” brought together experts from Capgemini, Coca-Cola HBC, Celfocus, and GASQ.

The conference also featured four specialized technical tracks covering Continuous Testing & Quality Engineering, Agentic Testing & Orchestration, LLM-Driven Testing & Testing for AI, and Applied Generative AI in Testing.

The sessions explored the future of intelligent automation, AI-powered testing systems, and next-generation software quality engineering models.

Industry participants said the event reflects Egypt’s accelerating momentum in software testing, AI-enabled quality engineering, and advanced digital services, supported by expanding technical capabilities, global partnerships, and a rapidly growing innovation ecosystem.
