Basata Secures $21M Series A to Disrupt America’s $1T Healthcare Operations with AI Agents

Basata, the AI-driven health-tech startup, has successfully closed a $21 million Series A funding round led by Basis Set Ventures, with participation from Cowboy Ventures, PHX Ventures, Zenda Capital, and Victoria Treyger. This brings the company’s total funding to $24.5 million. Named after the Arabic word for "Simplicity," Basata is on a mission to rebuild the administrative backbone of the U.S. healthcare system by automating complex manual tasks that still rely on legacy technology like fax machines and phone calls.

The platform utilizes advanced AI agents to automate patient intake, referral management, and scheduling. By autonomously extracting patient data from incoming faxes and utilizing AI voice agents to book appointments within minutes, Basata has already served over 500,000 patients. Kaled Alhanafi, CEO of Basata, emphasized that the platform is designed to empower administrative teams, not replace them, by boosting their operational capacity by up to 50% and ensuring 100% of medical referrals are processed on the same day.
