Huawei Launches F5G-A Solutions in Africa to Accelerate Industrial Intelligence
Huawei unveiled its latest F5G-A solutions and new optical network products during the Global Optical Summit (GOS) 2026 Africa, held as part of the Huawei Intelligent Africa Congress in Cairo. The event brought together more than 300 industry leaders, experts, and partners from across the continent.
The newly launched solutions are designed to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption across industries by leveraging advanced all-optical networks. These include upgraded offerings for industry communication networks, all-optical campuses, and fiber sensing technologies.
Rock Qin, Vice President of Huawei Northern Africa, highlighted the company’s progress in transforming optical networks into AI-powered “neural systems,” supported by the deployment of 400G/800G backbone networks and innovations in optical sensing.
Nick Liu, Vice President of Huawei Enterprise Optical Domain, emphasized the company’s “Optical-AI Convergence” strategy, noting that the upgraded F5G-A solutions target key sectors including government, energy, transportation, education, hospitality, and manufacturing.
Among the key innovations introduced:
Integrated optical transport network (OTN) with quantum encryption (QKD) for high-security industries
Smart substation solutions enabling full IoT coverage and real-time monitoring
Enhanced Fiber-to-the-Office (iFTTO) solutions integrating networking, computing, and sensing
Fiber sensing solutions for predictive maintenance in industrial conveyor systems
Industry stakeholders also shared real-world deployment experiences, including applications in smart campuses and industrial communication networks across Africa.
The summit concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing partners contributing to the advancement of optical technologies and intelligent transformation.
Huawei reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration across Africa, driving innovation, and supporting the continent’s transition toward a digitally enabled, intelligent future.
