Egypt’s Chemical Export Council Explores New Opportunities in Romania to Boost EU Trade
The Egyptian Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council (ECFEC) held a joint meeting with the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in coordination with the Egyptian Commercial Service, to explore new export opportunities and strengthen trade cooperation with Romania as part of broader efforts to expand Egypt’s presence in European Union markets.
The meeting brought together senior representatives from both sides, including Iuliu Stocklosa, President of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with key Romanian officials and business leaders. The Egyptian delegation included Eng. Ali El-Zein, Board Member of ECFEC; Mohamed Magid, Executive Director; and Yehia El-Menshawy, Director of Business Development and International Cooperation.
Eng. Ali El-Zein described Romania as a promising destination for Egyptian chemical and fertilizer exports, citing strong competitiveness in quality, pricing, and compliance with EU standards.
According to Mohamed Magid, Egypt’s chemical exports to Romania reached approximately USD 220 million in 2025, with fertilizers accounting for USD 165 million, followed by plastics at USD 37 million and intermediate chemicals at USD 15 million, in addition to other products such as glass, paints, detergents, adhesives, and rubber.
Participants highlighted significant untapped potential for export growth, particularly amid increasing Romanian demand for Egyptian chemical products.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to enhance coordination and facilitate direct engagement between Egyptian and Romanian companies, paving the way for sustainable trade and investment partnerships.
