Emirates SkyCargo Expands Network to Canada with New Toronto Freighter Service
Emirates SkyCargo has announced a significant expansion of its global logistics network with the launch of a new dedicated cargo route to Canada, reinforcing trade links between the UAE and North America.
The company introduced a weekly freighter service to Toronto Pearson International Airport, marking a new milestone in its strategy to expand capacity and strengthen its presence across key global trade corridors. The service will enhance air cargo connectivity between Canada, the UAE, and Europe, supporting growing demand for reliable logistics solutions.
The new route operates via Amsterdam, creating a multi-market corridor that connects three major economic regions—Canada, Europe, and the Middle East—within a single logistics network. The service is expected to play a critical role in facilitating the movement of high-value and time-sensitive goods, including pharmaceuticals, perishables, and manufactured products.
According to company officials, the weekly freighter flight will add approximately 100 tonnes of additional cargo capacity from Canada, complementing existing cargo transported via passenger aircraft. This expansion is designed to provide businesses with more flexible and efficient shipping options, while supporting the continued growth of bilateral trade.
Emirates SkyCargo highlighted that trade flows between Canada and the UAE have been steadily increasing, with exports rising by around 24% year-on-year between 2023 and 2024, driven by stronger economic ties and improved connectivity.
The move aligns with the company’s broader growth strategy, which focuses on expanding its freighter fleet and optimizing its global network to meet evolving market demands. Emirates SkyCargo has been actively increasing capacity, including the addition of new Boeing 777 freighters, to support its next phase of expansion.
Officials described the new service as a strategic step that enhances access to one of the world’s largest cargo markets, while strengthening supply chains and enabling faster, more efficient movement of goods across continents.
The expansion underscores Emirates SkyCargo’s role as a key facilitator of global trade, leveraging its extensive network spanning six continents to connect businesses and markets worldwide.
