Proofpoint Report Reveals Global Blind Spot: 52% of Organizations Lack Confidence in Defending Against AI-Driven Threats
Proofpoint, a leading cybersecurity and compliance firm, has released its inaugural global report, “The Human-AI Risk Landscape.” The study, which surveyed over 1,400 security professionals across 12 countries, exposes a widening gap between the rapid deployment of AI and the organizational capacity to secure it. While 87% of global enterprises have fully integrated AI assistants into their workflows, more than half (52%) express deep uncertainty regarding their security controls' ability to detect breached AI systems.
The report highlights a structural weakness in incident response: only one-third of organizations feel fully equipped to investigate AI-related security breaches across multi-channel environments. This lack of readiness comes at a critical time, as 76% of firms are already testing or deploying autonomous intelligent systems. Proofpoint’s findings suggest that while investments in AI are surging, the human element—specifically the ability to monitor and investigate AI behavior—remains the weakest link in the modern corporate defense strategy.
