Egypt and Japan Strengthen Industrial Ties; Target 100,000-Vehicle Production Milestone by 2030
Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Eng. Khaled Hashem, held high-level talks with Japanese Ambassador Oka Hiroshi (and the accompanying delegation) to discuss the expansion of Japanese investments in the Egyptian market. The meeting, attended by Dr. Ahmed Maghawry, Assistant Minister for International Cooperation, focused on capitalizing on the "Strategic Partnership" status established between the two nations in 2023. Minister Hashem emphasized that the National Automotive Industry Development Program (AIDP) offers unprecedented incentives for Japanese manufacturers, particularly Nissan, to spearhead Egypt’s goal of producing 100,000 vehicles annually by 2030.
Beyond automotive manufacturing, the discussions highlighted strategic opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector, including high-tech medical equipment and electronics. Minister Hashem underscored that Egypt’s industrial strategy is designed to integrate Japan’s leading technological expertise with Egypt’s competitive operational advantages. This collaboration is expected to drive sustainable development and solidify Egypt’s position as a key link in the global supply chain for Japanese enterprises.
