Enhancing cooperation in the fields of technological architecture, digital capacity building, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity
Eng. Rafat Hindi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Taha Khalifa, received the General Manager of Intel in the Middle East and Africa. The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of technological architecture, digital capacity building, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
During the meeting, Eng. Rafat Hindi, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, stressed the Ministry's interest in developing capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence to prepare qualified cadres to support the expansion of its applications in various sectors of the state, within the framework of building an integrated digital society based on the latest technologies to provide advanced services to citizens.
Eng. Rafat Hindi pointed to the keenness of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to enhance cooperation with leading international companies to achieve the targets of the second phase of the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, and to employ modern technologies to support economic and social development. He added that keeping pace with global developments is a necessity to maximize the benefit of this technology, stressing that enhancing cybersecurity, developing the skills of national competencies, and supporting digital innovation represent basic pillars to drive digital transformation.
For his part, Eng. Taha Khalifa, Director General of Intel in the Middle East and Africa, expressed his aspiration to cooperate with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the field of digital capacity building, especially in the specialties in which the company is distinguished, by providing specialized training programs to hone the skills of cadres in the fields of security, artificial intelligence and modern technological technologies in the field of infrastructure.
The meeting reviewed the efforts of the Ministry's Applied Innovation Center in building applications of generative artificial intelligence that meet the needs of society and are based on the huge Egyptian linguistic model "Crank", which is based on Arab culture and Egyptian identity, in addition to the center's continuous cooperation with universities to support research and development in the fields of emerging technologies, foremost of which is artificial intelligence.
It was also agreed to start preparing a memorandum of understanding that forms a general framework for cooperation between the ministry and the company in a number of fields, most notably the implementation of training programs to build digital capacities targeting workers in the administrative apparatus in the country and the executive leaders, in addition to supporting the initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology such as the "Digital Pioneers" initiative.
They also discussed the possibility of holding technical workshops and specialized sessions on the latest global trends in technology, especially in the fields of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, and benefiting from Intel's expertise in these fields, as well as enhancing cooperation with the Ministry's training and application authorities.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Huda Baraka, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for the Development of Technological Skills, Eng. Saad Rushdy, Head of the Central Department of Resources and Technical Assistance and Supervisor of the Central Department of Technology Projects and Outsourcing at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Engineer Inji Abbas, Head of Business Development at Intel in North Africa and the Middle East, and a number of leaders of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology
