Egypt’s Streaming Boom: NTRA Reports 67% Growth in Online Viewership with 52 Million Daily Users
The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has revealed that online streaming is the fastest-growing digital sector in Egypt, recording a staggering 67% surge in 2026. According to the report, daily viewership across streaming platforms has reached a record-breaking 52.4 million users. Industry giants such as Netflix and Shahid are at the forefront of this transformation, capturing a massive share of Egypt’s digital attention span.
This exponential growth is attributed to a combination of high-speed fiber expansion and a strategic shift in consumer content preferences. As broadband penetration deepens, Egyptian households are increasingly cutting the cord on traditional satellite TV in favor of on-demand, high-definition content. The NTRA highlights that this surge has turned Egypt into one of the most lucrative markets for regional and international Over-The-Top (OTT) services, driving unprecedented demand for localized content and high-bandwidth data packages.
